Business Data Friends is a woman-owned boutique consulting firm that helps you make sense of information that feels scattered, overwhelming, or hard to use. We work with small business owners, nonprofit leaders, and creatives to turn that information into clear, practical systems you can actually use to go after funding, contracts, partnerships, and long-term growth.
Our founder and CEO, Michelle Gachette, brings over 20 years of experience working in libraries, archives, and information management—alongside her own experience navigating the challenges of running a business. That means we don’t just “do research.” We help you find the right information, organize what matters, and build a process you can keep using—without feeling overwhelmed or starting from scratch every time.
We start with what you already have—your notes, your ideas, your past research—and help you make it clearer, more organized, and easier to build on. We pay attention to how you learn and work, keep your information private, and turn complex findings into tools you can actually use. When you’re ready to move forward with funding or contract opportunities, we invite you to book a Free Clarity Call.
We begin with a focused conversation to understand your goals, constraints, and where things feel unclear or overwhelming. Together, we define what your research actually needs to answer—so you don’t spend time or money in the wrong places.
From there, we organize your research into something usable. This may include benchmarking your industry, gathering targeted insights, or building a structured system for tracking data, sources, and documentation—so your work supports funding, contracts, or strategic decisions.
You leave with clear outputs, organized information, and a stronger foundation for action. Whether you are preparing an application, evaluating an opportunity, or planning next steps, your decisions are supported by credible, well-structured research.
For clients who want continuity, we provide ongoing support to keep your research, data, and documentation current—so you are not starting from scratch each time a new opportunity arises.
Michelle Gachette is the founder of Business Data Friends LLC, where we bring together over two decades of experience in library science, archival research, and business analysis to support our clients. With a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia and professional training in archives administration, entrepreneurship librarianship, and copyediting, we approach every project with both academic rigor and practical business insight.
Our work is grounded in helping small business owners, nonprofit leaders, and institutions build clear, sustainable research and documentation systems that support real-world decision-making. As members of the Association of Independent Information Professionals and other professional networks, we remain committed to continuous learning and to connecting people with the information they need to grow with confidence.
