Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We design research with continuity in mind. That means helping you track sources, document findings, and establish simple routines to revisit and update your information. Research is not a one-time task—it’s an ongoing process, and we help you build systems that keep it current and actionable.

Yes, we work with clients across the U.S. and aim to support individuals internationally. We also assist international scholars who need access to U.S.-based libraries and archival materials but are unable to travel.

You will receive organized, decision-ready outputs such as research summaries, source lists, evidence checklists, or structured documentation systems. We focus on creating materials you can reuse, update, and build on—so your research continues to support your business beyond a single project.

We typically begin with a clarity or discovery conversation to understand your goals, current materials, and what you’ve already explored. From there, we assess gaps, define a research approach, and either guide you through building a system or conduct targeted research on your behalf. Our goal is to make the process manageable and repeatable—not overwhelming.

We have supported a wide range of clients, including a fintech founder (competitive intelligence, knowledge and records audit, and documentation creation), a small business coach (newsletter data and content research), an 80+ year-old community activist, and a retired art teacher publishing family history dating back to the 1600s. We have also helped a swim school owner identify funding opportunities and improve operational visibility, as well as families working on archival preservation, oral histories, and donation planning.

With over 20 years of experience in academic libraries and archives, we bring structure, clarity, and confidence to business research that often feels overwhelming. Our approach is tailored to your goals and working style, and designed to be tracked and maintained over time. We also support international scholars who cannot travel to the U.S. with library and archival research for academic and professional projects.

We do not provide primary research (such as surveys, interviews, or focus groups) or advanced data analysis and statistical modeling. Our focus is on secondary research. If a project requires specialized support beyond our scope, we can collaborate with or refer you to trusted partners when possible.

Google and AI are great for getting started, but many high-quality sources sit in paid databases, specialized libraries and archives, trade publications, and institution-only collections that aren’t fully indexed online. AI can also be outdated or difficult to verify. We provide expert search strategy, careful verification, and organized deliverables you can actually use—saving you time and reducing risk.
